Essex County EmComm ARES/RACES
Traffic Handling Guidelines
There are three key elements to participating in emergency communication preparedness:
Knowing what to do and how to conduct yourself on the air during an emergency is a skill set easy to obtain, and crucial to your success as an EmComm participant. If you don't know what to do, or how to effect communications to the current EmComm standards, your laudable willingness to pitch in will wind up slowing down everyone around you as they try to bring you up to speed as quickly as possible. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that those Hams interested in EmComm invest the time to learn what to do, and how to do it. The below links will provide you with a better-than-basic knowledge of how EmComm works, and the starndards and practices by which it operates. Knowledge is power, please invest the time to learn.
